Oh Christmas, you are a beauty. If you are a New Yorker you get to experience an extra dose of magic in your holiday season and I was ready ... until I wasn't. Between Covid, inflation, and being a working mom with a limited income it was rough. And if you scroll through social media the sentiment was shared, especially among mothers. It was rough.
Why is it so hard for moms? We have to responsibility of making the holidays magical but when we can't make our list of what we need, we end up with empty stockings and no gifts under the tree. When did we normalize dumping it all on Mom and forgetting she is still a person who wants to be seen, understood, and loved?

There was a sadness amongst these mothers this year and my heart ached with them. Once again we were lost and could not remember the last time we were seen, or remembered we were.
As we enter 2024, gearing up for the BIG 40, let us remember that feeling in which the holidays left us feeling less than jolly and focus back on why we started this journey to begin with. Finding me again. Who are you? What do you like? What brings you joy and what don't you want in your life anymore? Give yourself some grace for the year 2023 because it was tough, but there is still so much more to find out about you.
